Privacy policy
Ijuka is built around a simple idea: your study collection belongs to you. This page explains what the app handles and what happens when you choose to connect other services.

At a glance
Ijuka is a local-first flashcard and reading app. We do not run advertising, use third-party tracking SDKs, or sell your personal data. You can use the app without creating an account with Ijuka.
Information on your device
Cards, notes, decks, review history, imported reading material, attached media, preferences, and locally stored profiles are saved on your device. The app uses this information to show your collection and schedule reviews.
Your device's operating system may include app data in a device or cloud backup according to your own backup settings. Removing the app or a local profile removes its local data, subject to any backups you keep.
Optional sync
If you choose to connect an Anki-compatible sync service, Ijuka sends the collection data needed for synchronization directly to that service. This may include your cards, notes, media, review history, account identifier, and sync credentials. The service you select controls its own servers, security, retention, and privacy practices. Review that service's policy before connecting.
Ijuka does not operate an intermediary sync server. You can keep using a local collection without enabling sync.
Device permissions
- Camera and photos: used when you choose to add an image to a card or note.
- Microphone: used when you choose to record audio for a card or note.
- Files: used for material you choose to import, export, or attach.
These permissions are used to complete actions you start in the app. Ijuka does not record audio or take photos in the background.
AI assistants on Mac
On Mac, you may choose to allow an AI assistant to work with your collection through Ijuka's local MCP helper. This feature is off until you enable it. The assistant client you connect may receive the collection content you authorize it to read and may have its own privacy practices. Review that client's settings before connecting.
This website
This website does not include analytics or advertising scripts and does not ask for an account. Its hosting provider may process ordinary request data, such as IP address and browser information, to deliver pages and maintain service security. Links to GitHub and other sites are governed by those sites' own policies.
Your choices
You can use Ijuka offline, decline optional permissions, disconnect a sync server, and remove local profiles or the app. Data already sent to a sync service must be managed with that service. For questions about your data or this policy, contact us through the support page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page when the app or its data practices change. The updated date above will reflect the latest version. Material changes will be described before they take effect where appropriate.
